How is a Tour Organized?
The first step in designing a tour is that you contact us to tell us about the things that interest you. John des Forges will initially plan a tour around these, and will happily make further suggestions as we exchange ideas. We build up the design of a guided car tour designed persnally for you, and which reflects your own special interests.
Flexibility is the key: alterations to an original plan can be made to meet changing circumstances. The length of the tour is also flexible: this will depend on the time you have available; our record length so far is seven weeks in Spain and Portugal, the shortest, three hours in Edinburgh!
In Scotland, you might want to spend a week or week-end in the Highlands or the Borders, while in our local area, Angus, Perth and Fife, shorter visits of a half-day or a whole day to places of interest, or a day's shopping trip to Edinburgh might suit your taste. You want to play Carnoustie & St Andrews golf courses in one day? We can help!
Extended tours can be planned in all our destinations and you can, of course, combine tours in different countries. France is one of our most popular destinations.
Up to four persons can travel by car, but arrangements can be made for as many as six. They are always Designer Car Tours -- personally designed for you, after you have told us your outline plans . . . or we can start from scratch with you. Please ask.
Our prices are charged per car, not per person. As tours are personally designed to meet clients' wishes, we prepare a quote for each client after the outline of a tour is agreed. Please contact us
Other Services in Scotland -- because we are based here we can offer these additional services in Scotland:
1. Your Cruise ship docking for a day or two?
If you
you are on a cruise, and your ship will be docking in Leith (Edinburgh), Dundee or Greenock, let us know before you leave home.
We can arrange to meet you at the quayside, and show you the sights and delights of the town, and surrounding countryside. Tours have a four hour minimum, but after that we can pace it and price it to the nearest half hour.
It is fun to come ashore for your personal tour -- we will have outlined a tour for you before you begin your cruise. Flexibility is the key though, and it can be altered any time, including during the tour itself.
2. Meet and Greet in Scotland. WELCOME!
In Scotland, Tours des Forges can meet you, your clients, family members or friends at airports, train/coach stations, or ferry, make them welcome and transfer them smoothly to their hotel. We can arrange to purchase,
collect and deliver a bouquet of flowers, or other welcoming gift from you. Of course we can take your clients and friends back to the airport at the end of their visit.
3. Airport Transfers in Scotland. WELCOME!
When you are arriving in Scotland, or (sadly) leaving, we offer an efficient and good value service. John des Forges meets you, welcomes you at an airport, train/coach station or ferry, (or your hotel, B&B place, if you are leaving) and takes you in comfort to your destination speedily, but without frills.
