Benelux
These three countries,
Belgium, The Netherlands and Luxembourg, each so different in character, have been at the hub of European
history for hundreds of years with sights and scenes to match.
When you are beginning
your car tour, enter one of these countries from France
or fly in from your home country. . . wherever you arive from, we
can be there to meet you to begin your guided car tour.
Belgium
Fly into Brussels and we will transfer you to your hotel. Depending on the time you arrive at the hotel, we can begin an introductory tour of the city as soon as you have checked in. The Grand Place is the heart but we can drive out to the Atomium, say, or/and the Art Galleries.
You will only be 60 miles form Bruges -- with Ghent as a halfway stop. Both these cities have fine art treasures, as have Antwerp and Liege. Some of the great, famous battlefields, their cemetries and Memorials of the First and Second World Wars are to be found in Belgium . . . and don't forget the chocolatiers!
Holland, or The Netherlands, or Pays-Bas, The Low Country
Four great names to describe this neat prosperous country. The country of Dutch painting, diamonds from Amsterdam, tiles from Delft. One of the best times to visit the country is during Tulip Time -- see the great fields of flowers that lie near the coast south of Haarlem.
Amsterdam has many glorious flower markets. When strolling the canals that contribute so much to the unique character of Old Amsterdam, you may come across open-air markets. Anne Frank's House and Museum is on the Prinsen Gracht canal. One of the world's great Art Galleries is here -- the Rijksmuseum, with its special gallery for its Van Gogh Collection. Dohn't forget the Rembrandt Quarter -- a fine gallery there too.
Grand Duchy of Luxembourg
Go 150 miles south-east
from Brussels and you find the spacious city of Luxembourg at the
heart of its Grand Duchy. Just to the north is the wooded area of
valleys and gorges, known as La petite Suisse de Luxembourgeoise
-- the Little Switzerland in Luxembourg -- the roads are twisty but the views and the atmosphere are spectacular.
There are at least two very scenic valleys ideal for seeing from the car: The Moselle flows along part of the border with Germany, and the river Sure which flows east west across this delightful, undiscovered country.
