France

Let us design an introductory tour of France for you, or, if you have toured in France before, we can help you focus on a particular region -- perhaps The Loire Valley. Provence or Normandy We will prepare a tailor-made itinerary for your car tour, guided by a person who is also your driver. You can also include visits to parts of other countries which border on France -- Italy, Switzerland, Germany or Spain.

We can meet you at your airport of arrival and begin your guided car tour immediately, or we take you to where you will be staying for your first night or two. we can review your plans and make any adjustments you may have in mind -- you may have just heard of a concert nearby that you'd like to go to, or discovered a chateau not far away that you'd really like to see. Remeber, flexibility is the key to our tours.

Chateau France

All parts of France have their own special delights:

Normandy, with its half-timbered farmhouses and its apple orchards. Perennially famous now for its great beaches which saw the start of the Allied invasion of occupied Europe in 1944.

Brittany's rugged, cliffy coastline is a delight to drive for its everchanging views.

The Loire Valley, with its magnicent Chateaux (castles) and gardens, the perfect area to tour by car. Pick a hotel in a central area and make your daily tours radiate out in different directions for two or three days.

Musee Rodin Paris Paris : Perhaps you have seen the famous sites: Louvre, Eiffel Tower, driven along the Champs Elysees to the Arc de Triomphe. . . what about the Musee Rodin near Les Invalides? Park the car a little way off and take short walk from the Latin Quarter. Have you explored L'Isle de la Cite thoroughly -- la Sainte Chapelle as well as Notre Dame? The Marais is an excellent arrondisement (area) to discover quickly by car. Park in the Place Vosges for lunch, and walk a little afterwards -- perhaps to the Picasso Museum.

Monbazier FranceProvence? It makes an excellent tour to start in Paris and take two or three days to drive to Provence, where you might chose an hotel in, say, Avignon or Aix-en-Provence.
Arles,
with its Roman amphitheatre and its memories of Van Gogh. Pont du Gard, Orange, the Camargue, les Baux are all nearby. Spend a day in the Luberon.

Chateauneuf France Fly into Nice and spend a few mellow days on the Cote d'Azure before a more active few days in Provence. There is the wildness of the Camargue, with its wild horses roaming in the delta of the great river Rhone, which has flowed down from Lyon -- a city you can enjoy for a night on your way north or south.

Of course, if you are inany of the wine producing areas of France -- Burgundy, say, or Bordeaux, Champagne, the Loire, Alsace -- you will want to spend a little time at least having a 'degustation', a tasting; discussing your tastings, and perhaps buying a bottle or two! Always handy for picnics! France is worth visiting for its wonderful farmers' markets -- ideal starting point for selecting a tasty things to eat!

Grand Place, LoireFrance is a motorist's paradise . . . even more so when your driver is also your guide. The Autoroutes are there for speedy travel between one area and another, BUT take time and savour the quieter back roads, the country lanes that are so little used and lead from one delightful village to another.
Getting towards lunchtime, it is fun to head for an ancient auberge (inn) for an omelette and salade verte to accompany a chilled white wine, whether it be of the region or not!
