What is Tours des Forges?

Tours des Forges is your personal guided car tour service, by which we show you around your chosen places of interest in Great Britain, Ireland and Western Europe. We provide the car and the driver, who is your guide throughout the tour.

Planning tours based upon clients' own ideas is the key to maximising the enjoyment of your chosen tour.

The owner, John des Forges, has been driving and guiding travellers, with many and varied interests, since 1976.
Having been based in California for many years, we have re-located to Scotland, the favourite destination of many clients from the U.S.A.
The name, Tours des Forges, was suggested by a client from Los Angeles who, at the end of an extended tour in France exclaimed, " Wow, that was a tour de force!" Please see Appreciations


John des Forges' wide knowledge of history, architecture, interesting places to dine, good places to shop, historic inns to visit, together with his friendly personality makes every tour an unforgettable experience.

As passenger, you will be able to relax in total comfort and, with complete confidence in your guide, enjoy the scenery of the country or the buzz of city culture.

The Price of a Tour des Forges -- We do not publish prices for tours. This is because each tour is individually planned, the range of prices is enormous. It can also be misleading to publish a minimum price. So we do ask you to ask! You may be pleasantly surprised! Our clients find our tours good value.
